Send a channel invitation to another user. This is required for invite-only (+i) channels where users cannot join on their own.
Syntax
/invite <nickname> [#channel] /invite auto
Parameters
nickname
— The user to invite.#channel
— Target channel (defaults to your current channel).
auto
— Toggle whether you auto-join channels when you receive invitations.
How It Works
The invited user receives a popup dialog with options to Join or Decline the invitation. The invitation expires after 5 minutes if not acted upon. For invite-only (+i) channels, only channel operators can send invites. Operators can also right-click a nick in the nicklist and choose Invite to Channel... to open a channel picker without typing the command. Using
/invite auto
toggles your personal preference for automatically joining channels when someone invites you.
Rules & Limits
- You must be in the channel to invite someone to it
- For +i channels, you must be a channel operator
- Invitations expire after 5 minutes
